The BET Awards aren't here yet, but music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is already winning big. The rapper is slated to receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. The title was designed to honor people in the industry who have impacted culture and who are seen as leaders in the community. The BET Awards pride themselves in honoring the artist who exemplifies "the best, brightest, and most beautiful aspects of the Black experience." Obviously, Puff checks all the boxes. Here's what to expect...
Hosted by Taraji P. Henson for the second year in a row, the 2022 BET Awards will take place on June 26. The musician and business entrepreneur, Diddy, will be the second recipient of the lifetime achievement award, whose head-start into the biz was through rap. The honorable award began in 2001 when given to the one and only Whitney Houston. Since then, it has been given to other Hollywood legends, from Mary J. Blige to Samuel L. Jackson, Smokey Robinson, and last year's winter, Queen Latifah.
"Diddy has always been a pioneering force in our community, breaking barriers, achieving unprecedented heights, blazing new trails, and, in so doing, raising the bar for all of us," noted BET CEO Scott Mills. "His virtuosity is matched only by his range – from music to media, culture, business, and philanthropy – Diddy has exemplified Black excellence." Puff completely revolutionized music with the start of his record label, Bad Boy Records. Founded in the early '90s, the mogul has cultivated artists such as The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Lil Kim. So basically, an icon, creating icons.

"It's personally gratifying to celebrate and honor a longtime partner and friend of the network who, through the decades, has laid the blueprint for Black excellence through entertainment." Combs has been a constant force in the industry and an inspiration to all of us - and we can't wait to see him take home the win this year. Until then, check out who walked home a winner last time around.
