Hip Hop's Biggest Names Were at the Met Gala
| LAST UPDATE 09/14/2021
Met Gala is known around the world as one of the most important nights in high fashion. And this year, some of the biggest names in hip-hop came to add their sauce to the red carpet. So let's take a look at who showed up.
Getting us started is one of the industry's newest official couples: Rihanna and ASAP Rocky. While rumors about these two chart-topping artists go back years, they finally decided to make their relationship red carpet official at this year's Met Gala. The two rocked a coordinated puffy look, with ASAP wrapped in a custom ERL quilt design. Rihanna, on the other hand, went for a custom Balenciaga black coat. Both in their own unique way, ASAP and his bae managed to absolutely shut the red carpet down, and it felt like all eyes were on them as they made their way to the museum's front doors.
Also there to rock the fundraiser was Frank Ocean. The Grammy-winning artist made a rare public appearance at the 2021 Met Gala and turned heads with his "date." The Chanel artist rocked his simple but dope black suede three-piece suit from Prada coupled with a plain white t-shirt. But the real wow factor came from his green robotic baby. The Pink + White singer was playing it cool while everyone stared in confusion. He even held the little alien-like doll as if it were real. When speaking to Keke Palmer during his red carpet appearance, Frank said, "He's starstruck, I'm starstruck," while speaking about his "plus one."
And to finish it off, we had hip-hop legend Justin Bieber hand-in-hand with the Mrs., Hailey Bieber. The Peaches singer was riding his MTV VMAs Artist of the Year high as he hit the red carpet in his simple but original black suit created by Drew House label. All in all, both Biebs and his wife got major props for their sophisticated looks. Especially in comparison to some of their past bold fashion choices.
Safe to say that hip-hop held it down at this year's Met Gala. Be sure to check back soon for more industry news coming soon...
