Bad news for all our Kodak fans: on New Year's Day, Kodak Black was charged with trespassing and taken into custody. Based on reports from the South Florida SunSentinel, the events went down in the city the rapper had grown up in. Here's what we know so far.

According to reports, the Tunnel Vision artist was apprehended for a misdemeanor, but Broward County Court records haven't yet released what exactly led up to the arrest. The county sheriff's deputies did reveal that they "made contact with Bill Kapri" at around 1:30 am. ET. Sure enough, a few hours later, at around 4:00 am, the rapper was bonded out of jail. This all comes after he was praised by the South Florida SunSentinel for his philanthropy.

But the arrest on Saturday was not the first time that the 24-year old has been picked up by law enforcement. Kodak Black, whose birth name was Octave Dieuson and is now legally Bill Kapri, was previously charged with robbery, battery, and false imprisonment of a child in his hometown in 2015. At the time, he was just 18 years old and getting his music career started. In the following years, the ZEZE singer was apprehended by officers on numerous occasions - for charges of marijuana possession, sexual battery, and weapon possession. After spending 3 months in jail, in 2016, Kapri was sentenced to one year of house arrest and then five years probation.

Fast forward to 2019, and the artist was taken in by U.S. Customs and Border Protection after he attempted to enter Canada from New York - all while in possession of a weapon and marijuana. After being placed in Niagara County Jail, Black paid the $20,000-$40,000 bond and was released. Only it didn't take long before he was back behind bars... Just a few weeks later, before his performance at Rolling Loud, Kapri was arrested by U.S. marshals for state and federal firearms violations. He went on to avoid 15 years in prison, but we'll have to see where his latest L takes him.

We're hoping for the best for all parties involved. Stay tuned while this story develops.
