Our thoughts and prayers go out to Uncle Snoop: the 50-year-old rapper recently suffered a major loss in his family. From his sudden announcement to the heartbreaking tribute it called for, here's what we know about the passing of Snoop's beloved mother.
On Sunday, October 24, the Cali native first announced the big news: "Thank u god for giving me an angel for a mother," Snoop revealed, alongside a snap of him and his late mom. Unfortunately, it appears 70-year-old Beverly Broadus Green (also known as Beverly Tate) had been ill for quite some time before succumbing to her battle.
In case you forgot, Snoop has been documenting his Ma's journey to recovery throughout the year. This past July, he even shared a snap visiting Miss Tate in the hospital. "She opened up her eyes to c us and let us know she still fighting," Snoop captioned the post. But while the details of her illness remain unknown, there is one thing we do know: Beverly Tate's memory is bound to live on forever.
"Mama thank you for having me," Snoop further reflected. "U taught me how to read and write how to struggle and fight and all the facts of life. Now you finally got ya wings mama."
Of course, though, we're not the only ones thinking of the hip-hop legend's family during this difficult time. "Sorry uncle snoop. Love and peace to your family," Cardi B reached out in the comments section. "Prayers! May God bless you and your family…. So sorry you’re going through this King…. Thank you mother for giving us one the greats!" Tyrese Gibson added. Couldn't have said it better ourselves.
While she may have been taken from this world too soon, Beverly Tate will forever be loved and cherished. After all, she blessed us with one of the biggest stars to ever dominate the music scene.
