Between the world-stopping premiere back in October of 2021 and the six Oscar wins, the cast and crew of Dune have been riding a victory wave for nearly a year. And the hype is starting to build once again as talks have started about the sequel, Dune: Part Two which is set to hit theaters in 2023...
For those who forgot (*spoiler alert*), the world of Dune isn't exactly kind to its characters - and we already had to say goodbye to both Jason Momoa and Oscar Isaac in the first installment. But while they won't be joining the cast this time around, two fresh faces are gaining a lot of hype online as fans look forward to seeing them join Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet in action. For starters, we've got Austin Butler, who will be joining the cast as the film's villain, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. Coming off his Elvis high, the 30-year-old actor will be stepping into the fictional world along with Florence Pugh. The Black Widow star will be taking on the role of Princess Irulan. And if these new cast members aren't getting you hyped enough, then the sequel's blurb sure will...
The film's director, Denis Villeneuve, isn't holding back when it comes to how he feels about part two, confessing, "It's probably going to be the biggest challenge of my career... because it's even more complex than part one." But his team managed to put together a promo that got fans buzzing. "Part Two will focus on Paul assembling a massive army of Fremen to combat the ruthless Harkonnen, as he essentially becomes a mythical messiah figure to the inhabitants of Arrakis." It's safe to say that if promo blurbs could win Oscars, the Dune team would clench number seven just like that. But we'll have to wait for the anticipated trailer and release to get a full look at the new project.
