A new movie from the mastermind behind Barbarian is in the works, and it's going to be the horror epic we've all been waiting for. Pedro Pascal has just joined the cast of Weapons, the newest project from writer-director Zach Cregger, who is famous for his low-budget horror flick that became a hit with everyone who saw it. And with Pascal in the lead role, something tells us we're in for a wild ride that will leave us on the edges of our seats.
Set to be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo and Cregger's Barbarian producing partners J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures, Weapons is shrouded in mystery. While we don't know exactly what frights Cregger has in store, we do know that it will be an interrelated, multistory horror epic that's tonally similar to Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 masterpiece, Magnolia. We can't even begin to imagine what twists and turns will be thrown our way with a pitch like that.
Pascal's role is still under wraps, but anyone who's seen him in action before knows that he's going to deliver something special. After gaining popularity in series like Narcos and Game of Thrones, Pascal's career really exploded with his role as the fiercely silent bounty hunter in The Mandalorian. And let's not forget his incredible performance in the HBO series The Last of Us. As Joel, a grief-stricken father in a post-apocalyptic world, Pascal showcased his talent for emotional depth and complexity, turning a horror-based narrative into a compelling drama.
