September has come, which means only one thing: MTV VMA season is upon us. And we're here to give you all the deets on this year's upcoming show.
September 12th will be a night to remember, with tons of firsts happening at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York. From the award statue to the lineup, MTV is pulling out all the stops for this year's show. The Video Music Awards has gotten quite the makeover, including the moon person trophy, which has been redesigned by Kehinde Wiley and will have its big reveal on Saturday's award show.

And to top it all off, the awards will back to its original format after switching things up in 2020 to meet COVID safety standards. Doja Cat will be bringing her baddie flare to the show, both in her hosting gig and her slotted performances. The Need To Know artist is hitting the VMA stage for the second year in a row and is up for five different awards, including Song of the Summer and Video of the Year.
She's up against some big names in the categories, including Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's WAP collaboration, The Weeknd's Save Your Tears, and Lil Nas X's Montero. But, as a second-timer at the VMAs, Doja Cat's name wasn't found in the Best New Artist category, which she won back in 2020. This year, the fresh faces up for the award include 24kGoldn, Giveon, Polo G, and Saweetie.
But besides awards, we've got quite the lineup of performances to look forward to. Lil Nas X, Machine Gun Kelly, and Justin Bieber have all been slotted to perform hit tracks this Saturday in Brooklyn. In addition, Camila Cabello will be performing the first single from her new album Don't Go Yet on stage.
Hyped yet? Saturday, September 11th, will be a big night, you guys. So be sure to check back for all your VMA news from this year's celebrations. After all, this award show doesn't have its wild reputation for nothing, right?
