Earlier this week, The Weeknd took to his Instagram to finally announce the release of his latest album. The anticipated record will be dropped on January 7th. Here's everything we know so far.
Abel recently blessed his 35.5 million followers with a few different posts about Dawn FM. The Save Your Tears singer shared the album cover, an image of himself looking like an elderly man, a video teaser playing a snippet of new music, and the album live broadcasting event. On January 6th, a day before the official release, Amazon Music will be hosting the first live listening of the songs. The album has been described as "A new sonic universe from the mind of The Weeknd."

Fans have been waiting for new music since March 2020, when the Grammy-winning artist dropped his fourth studio album, After Hours. It was deemed a major success, with the song Blinding Lights being named Billboard's Hot 100 song of all time. And he was even dubbed Billboard's No. 5 Greatest Pop Star of 2021. What a year for the talented singer! But The Weeknd didn't just spend all of 2021 winning awards and headlining at the Superbowl. He's also been featured on tracks alongside Rosalía for La Fama, Post Malone for One Right Now, FKA Twigs for Tears in the Club, and Aaliyah for her track, Poison.
Back in October, during his Apple Music 1 radio show Memento Mori, he hinted that his fifth album was completed. "Only thing that's missing is a couple of characters who are key to the narrative — some people that are near and dear to me, some people that inspired my life as a child, and some that inspire me now," the Weeknd revealed. Fans got a teaser of what's to come when one track was released in August during NBC's Olympics Prime Time Show, Take My Breath. While there is still minimal information on what we should expect, we do know the album will be featuring some of our favorite A-list stars, including Quincy Jones, Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Oneohtrix Point Never, and even actor Jim Carrey. What a lineup!
We cannot wait to hear what masterpiece The Weeknd has created this time. Don't forget to stream Dawn FM on Friday, or get an early listen on Amazon Music's live broadcasting.
