A new era is officially among us - but don't take our word for it: after much anticipation, The Weeknd recently took to the mic to set the record straight on his upcoming album. Here's what our Starboy had to say about his latest drop.
On Monday, October 4, the Grammy-slayer sat down for the latest episode of his Apple music show, Memento Mori. But this time was different - he had some pretty big news to share with the rest of us: "album is complete," The Weeknd revealed on the radio show. That's right. The wait is finally over folks. Well, sort of...

"Only thing missing is a couple characters that are key to the narrative," the artist continued. "Some people that are near and dear to me, some people that inspired my life as a child, and some that inspire me now. More to come in the following months. But the only thing that matters is this very moment." Let's hold that thought for a second, Abel.
In case you forgot, the Billboard artist's upcoming drop is actually a long time coming. For months now, The Weeknd has been teasing a new era of music - something we still have yet to get a taste of. "If the last record is the After Hours of the night, then the Dawn is coming," he first announced to Variety back in May of his latest drop.
Since then, we've been (impatiently) waiting for our Starboy's words to ring true. But can we really blame the guy? "A lot has been going down, a lot of moving pieces," The Weeknd elaborated on Memento Mori of his seeming hiatus. "I've been settling in a new home, been shooting videos, been working on pre-productions for another world, working on music for the pre-productions for the other world, taking time to myself so I don't completely lose my mind."
Well, there you have it. While we have yet to hear word on a release date, don't go anywhere just yet. "Some exciting features coming out in the fall before the album drops," Tesfaye teased.
Stay tuned...
