J.Cole Makes History With NBA 2K23 ‘DREAMER’ Cover

J.Cole's NBA aspirations are growing by the day! The iconic artist has officially been honored by the basketball gods as gracing the cover of NBA 2K23's special edition game for the upcoming video game szn. J. Cole will sport the cover of this year's video games' DREAMER Edition, which officially drops this November. Here's what to know.

For those that need a lil reminder, J. Cole is no stranger to the world of basketball, which explains his cover. The multi-talented rapper is also a multi-talented basketball player and has spent a few years playing on the courts professionally. The artist played with the Rwanda Patriots BBC of the Basketball Africa League last year and is currently contracted with the Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Although the 6-foot-3 guard only played four games this year with the team to begin touring, we loved watching him do his thing on the court.

Anyways, back to 2K. The Work Out rapper is sporting this year's DREAMER Edition, which features the MyCAREER mode, which allows players to add fashion, music, and business ventures to their off-the-court side hustles. The Dreamville founder also participated in the game's highly anticipated soundtrack, showcasing songs from Megan Thee Stallion, Drake, J.I.D, Ski Mask, The Slump God, and more. In a press release regarding the games drop, the artist said: "NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture. It's been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year's game but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline, soundtrack and bring the DREAMER brand into NBA 2K."

Fans are hyped to get their hands on this year's NBA 2K23 DREAMER Edition. According to the Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy, Alfie Brody, "The sheer scale, depth, and talent featured in this year's MyCAREER creates an unparalleled experience within NBA 2K23." Brody continued to comment on J. Cole's position as a cover star who "sits at the intersection of basketball and music," which "showcases the pillar of culture that NBA 2K23 has become." So, folks, for those that don't wait to wait around for the DREAMER Edition, this year's 2K23 game is available now. And for everyone else, stay tuned for the official November release date.
