During a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Christiano Ronaldo criticized his own club, Manchester United - and the online world has a lot to say about it. During the two-part interview, Ronaldo shared how he really feels about his team and his manager, Erik ten Hag. The news took over the Internet following United's 2-1 victory over Fulham, their final game before the Premier League enters the 2022 World Cup.
Regarded as one of the greatest soccer players of all time, Ronaldo made his debut for Portugal in 2003 and joined Manchester United that same year. The Portuguese athlete played for the English team until 2009, when he moved over to Real Madrid for nearly ten years, three in Juventus, and then back to United in 2021. Now playing as a forward for the Premier League, Ronaldo has had quite the on and off again relationship with the club and his manager.
In his sit-down interview with Morgan, Ronaldo pointed out United hadn't changed in the years he was gone, criticizing the way the club is structured, the coaches, the staff, and the board. "I thought everything will be different, you know, the technology, the infrastructures, and everything," regarding to his return to the team. "But I was surprised, in a bad way, let's say in that way, because I saw everything was the same," he said. "At United, the progress was zero, in my opinion." Ouch.

The star athlete went on to explain his relationship with ten Hag, who recently demoted him over a meeting he took with Chelsea after he supposedly refused to come in as a sub against Tottenham. "I don't have respect for him because he doesn't show respect for me," Ronaldo firmly stated. "If you don't have respect for me, I'm never gonna have respect for you," he added. The 37-year-old claims "Manchester United tried to force me [him] out," and he feels "betrayed" after all the years he's dedicated to the prestigious team. Following the breaking news, Ronaldo issued an apology on Instagram, explaining his situation, writing, "This is Manchester United, and united we must stand. Soon we'll be together again."
