Recently Tristan Thompson has been making headlines for reasons unrelated to his basketball career. Yet still, it looks like the paternity scandal has impacted more than just his personal life. Here's how the drama found its way onto the courts...
For those who missed it: during his latest game, the Sacramento Kings star was benched. Why? According to reports, his coaches found his baby mama drama to be too distracting. Along with nearly the rest of the world, Thompson's coaches were caught up with the latest saga, and it seemed like they weren't too happy about it. According to Hollywood Life, "They didn't want the distraction to take over the game." On January 4th, one day after he publicly shared the test's result, the NBA player was benched from joining his teammates on the courts. The Sacramento Kings were going up against the Los Angeles Lakers - and ended up losing with a score of 122 - 114.
If you aren't already familiar, the 30-year old was recently caught cheating on his famous girlfriend, Khloe Kardashian. The scandal began when a DNA test revealed Thompson to be the father of Maralee Nichols's newborn son after months of accusations. "Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols," he admitted on Instagram. "I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established, I look forward to amicably raising our son." Thompson even included an apology to his reality star girlfriend: "Khloé, you don't deserve this. You don't deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don't deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you... I am so incredibly sorry."

While Khloe and the rest of the Kardashians probably won't be sporting #13 jerseys anytime soon, there's one member of the clan who has been. Kris Jenner's boyfriend, Cory Gamble, was seen at the latest game holding up a jersey with Thompson's number, 13. Hopefully, the athlete will be back on the NBA courts in no time. Stay tuned for updates.
