Now that Milan Fashion Week has come to a close, it's time to talk about the hottest announcement of the week: the Gucci X Adidas partnership. During the Italian fashion houses FW22 show, "Exquisite," the highly rumored collab finally made its way down the runway. Following suit of other high fashion and streetwear collabs, such as Louis Vuitton and Nike Air Force 1's or Addidas' previous collab with Prada, the combination of the two fashion categories are finally coming together exciting fans worldwide.
Gucci's creative director, Alessandro Michele, created a one-of-a-kind experience for the audience, debuting his 2022 Fall Line in a sort of house of mirrors concept. The guests and models appeared as distorting images of themselves in the surrounding mirrors to celebrate "metamorphosis," Michele says, "where the playful mechanics of refractions shatter every spatial limit and pave the way for escape." Potentially referencing the juxtaposition between the two worlds that are Gucci and Adidas. Sitting in the front row of this elaborate show, right next to Vogue editor and chief Anna Wintour, were the new parents to be, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky, who carried a Gucci monogrammed trunk. Maybe next year we can get a seat?
Seeing the German sportswear label collab with an Italian luxury brand just feels right. The collab was introduced down the runway with a set of classic Adidas sneakers displaying both brands' iconic logos on the heels signaling we were in for more. The three stripped trademark continued to make its way down the catwalk in various forms. Gucci adapted the Trefoil logo on its vibrantly colored pieces, from suits with lateral three stripes imprinted on them to smocked dress, mixed material overlays, knitwear with detailed cutouts, leather gloves, athletic hats, and much more. The original Adidas Gazelle made its way to the runway, giving fans a few color combo choices for the classic shoe. So Gucci.
