KENZO has officially released its 'Drop 3' of the Autumn/Winter 2022 Collection. Following the release of 'Drop 2,' the brand has launched a military-inspired collection titled 'Urban Uniforms,' which debuted earlier this year at the Galerie Vivienne in Paris. The third installment represents the military styles while maintaining the East/West tailoring aesthetics. Here's what to know.
All eyes have been on the French luxury fashion house since fashion designer Nigo was named the brand's Artistic Director late last year. Known for creating the urban streetwear brand Bape, among many other accomplishments in the fashion world, Nigo was crowned as Kenzo's Artistic Director and since then has shown the world he was born for the role. The KENZO Fall/Winter 2022 Women's and Men's show marked the debut of Nigo as Artistic Director, the first Japanese designer to take the reigns since its founder, Kenzo Takada.
The collection combines the brand's original Parisian roots mixed with Nigo's own cultural and contemporary vision. So what's the deal with Drop 3? The latest launch is inspired by both Western and Eastern influences while incorporating military stylings and keeping things nice and tailored in honor of Western shapes and Eastern silhouettes. We're seeing a lot of earth-colored tones in this capsule, such as a powder pink coat and khaki-colored suit-wear. The collection highlights a jungle camo print that is featured in various forms, from pants and skirts to anoraks and jackets. The collection also showcases kimono wrap tops, tailored plaid, and pinstripe pieces in true Kenzo form.

Last month, the LVMH-owned brand hosted a killer party in honor of the Artistic Director at the New Museum in New York - and anyone who's anyone was in attendance. Due to the pandemic, celebrations were paused since the creator was tapped for the position, but the team pulled through and threw down for Nigo! Rapper Pusha T, a close friend of the designer, performed for the NYC crowd, and everyone celebrated the brilliance that is Nigo. The brand hosted a welcome event for Nigo in Paris and will hold another banger in Tokyo later this month. "For us, it's very important to celebrate this launch in different places," said Kenzo's chief executive officer Sylvain Blanc. So, we can't wait to see what else is on tap for Nigo this year!
