Kid Cudi has done it again. While it is not a hit song that the rapper, actor, and fashion designer multi-hyphenate is coming out with, it is just as exciting. Cudi announced through his Instagram that he is launching a brand with Japanese designer NIGO.
NIGO is also the founder of HUMAN MADE and has been a constant figure in the streetwear world. Not only did he found the hyped-up brand HUMAN MADE, but he also founded A Bathing Ape, Billionaire Boys Club with Pharrell Williams, and Ice Cream footwear. NIGO has been a leading designer in the streetwear world, and he currently serves as the creative director for Kenzo. Not only that, but he and Cudi share a love for music. The Japanese designer is also a record producer and a DJ. He’s a member of the Japanese group the Teriyaki Boyz and has released music with some of rap’s greatest, like A$AP Rocky, Pusha T, Lil Uzi Vert, and, of course, Kid Cudi. That is one awesome resume to have.
In his Instagram post announcing WZRD CWBY, Kid Cudi wore a t-shirt displaying what we can expect to see from the upcoming clothing line. The design features a cartoon wizard wearing a wizard’s hat, holding a lasso and wand, and donning a long, white beard. The Instagram caption reads, “WZRD CWBY. A new brand by Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, in collaboration with @nigo. Made in Tokyo. Comin soon.” The post already has over 70,000 likes. This isn’t the first time the Day ‘n’ Nite rapper has ventured into the fashion world. One of his first steps into the industry was in 2011, when Cudi did a collab with Surface to Air. The Parisian brand released a leather jacket collection with the rapper. From that point on, Cudi continued to evolve. He’s worked with A.P.C., Adidas, Off-White, and more brands. The rapper also started his own clothing line called MOTR in 2021. Even back then, NIGO was involved and co-designed the brand’s UFO logo.
