Off-White Announces First Art & Image Director, Ibrahim Kamara
| LAST UPDATE 05/02/2022
Since the passing of the beloved Virgil Abloh in November 2021, Off-White has been on the hunt for a new creative director - until now. The brand has officially named Ibrahim Kamara as the new Art and Image Director, allowing him to oversee the artistic vision of Off-White. Kamara is ready to step into his new role while forever preserving the legacy that is Virgil Abloh. Here's what to know.
Fashion mastermind, Virgil Abloh, made an everlasting impact on streetwear fashion as we know it. After pioneering the "post-streetwear movement," the Off-White founder took luxury wear and streetwear and pushed boundaries like no other artist did. Abloh was named Louis Vuitton's artistic director for menswear in 2018, making him the first Black American to lead a French fashion house. Abloh will always be remembered for his slew of accolades in the fashion biz and praised for his prolific work, revolutionizing the industry.
Ibrahim Kamara is no stranger to the world of fashion and art, as he closely worked with Abloh for over three years and styled some of his shows in the past. Additionally, he is the Editor-in-Chief of DAZED, so again - no stranger to the world of fashion and art. With great shoes to fill, Kamara took to the 'gram to announce his position, writing, "Virgil will forever be with us. With me. He changed the world and left an indelible mark on anyone who encountered him and beyond. Generous with his time, mind, and creativity - he saw everyone and created with all humans in mind. I am honored to further link my ties to Off-White™️ as their Art & Image Director and be a part of the team that will tell the rest of the story Virgil started writing for us all."

According to Off-White, Kamara will be "overseeing the artistic direction of the brand" in his new role at the fashion house and "further develop his influence and insight on the brand's collections, image, and content." Since having worked with Abloh already, Kamara is vetted and prepped for the job, making him the perfect choice as Art & Image Director - and we can't wait to see what he's got cooking up. Stay tuned.
