There really is no stopping Rihanna. The pop star turned business mogul is expanding her empire yet again. This time she is debuting the first Savage X Fenty Sport collection. And we've got all the details...
Rihanna appointed longtime collaborator Adam Selman as the executive design director of Savage X Fenty Sport. They have previously worked together on a Savage X Fenty capsule collection for Valentine’s Day and on the risqué Swarvoski studded dress RiRi wore to the 2014 CFDA Awards. When describing the upcoming collection, Selman remarked, “It’s the perfect marriage of lingerie-inspired activewear that isn’t like anything else on the market.” He added, “We wanted to create something unique and bold that can speak to the existing customers, but also open up a whole new realm of possibilities for us.” The new mom of one describes her pregnancy as a source of inspiration. She told Vogue, “I was inspired by everyday life. Everything is a sport. Being pregnant is a sport.”
The collection will feature vibrant colors, low-cut bras, and bodysuits for all sizes. Breathable premium materials are incorporated into the activewear line, but the focus will be less on the tech side. Selman explained, “Sometimes, when innovation and technology are used in activewear, it gets very techy – I wanted to keep it invisible and sexy, so you feel it, but without noticing it visually.” When Rihanna shared a teaser on her Instagram, people in the comments immediately dropped fire emoji signs. This collection is def going to be fire. The campaign includes ambassadors like supermodel Precious Lee and TikTok star Avani Gregg. Some of the brand’s pieces will be featured in the Savage X Fenty Volume 4 runway show, which will be available to watch on Amazon Prime on November 9. The three words that Rihanna used to describe the collection were “Sexy. Function. Fashion.”
The Savage X Fenty Sport collection will launch on November 9 in tandem with the Savage X Fenty Show. If RiRi is planning on continuing to take over the world, we can’t wait to see what is next. Stay tuned.
