Musical genius and style icon Lil Nas X is adding another special skill to his resume, Yves Saint Laurent's newest beauty US brand ambassador. The artist is known for making bold style choices on and off the red carpet, singing his heart out, and overall being one of the most loved stars in the game - so we can't wait to see him shine as he represents the company's beauty line. Here's what to expect.
The artist will help support YSL's new brand campaigns, such as men's fragrances and makeup, in order to help push consumers to embrace their beauty without being forced to fit in society's basic square box. According to the French luxury brand, the partnership hopes to bring forth the "transformative power of beauty, inspiring independent self-expression for individuals and communities driven to change the world alongside YSL." It also represents the "passion, creativity and fearless attitude" found in both the Grammy award winner and Saint Laurent himself. According to the brand's US general manager, Laetitia Raoust, "The synergies between the brand and Lil Nas X's unwavering passion for individuality are the inspiration behind this partnership, with the hope it empowers the next generation of beauty."
The campaign for the upcoming collab represents X in the desert, showing off some of the new products in a range of leather and denim outfits and some blinged-out grills. The first available products will include "Rouge Pur Couture: The Bold" lip color and "Lash Clash" mascara, both of which are seen in the brand's campaign shots.
Describing his partnership with the brand, the Montero artist said, "It's been a lot of fun working on this campaign with YSL Beauté – they're such an iconic brand, and I'm happy to be a part of something so unique and groundbreaking in the beauty world. Shout out to YSL for embracing me and my campness and for inspiring change for the next generation of beauty." Not only is he breaking the mold with his position as brand ambassador, but X will also be dropping "an unreleased, never-heard-before track," to help hype up the collaboration. Stay tuned.
